Following a demanding race weekend at the previous round, the Brazilian driver arrives fully focused on the Michelin Pilot Challenge and confident of repeating last year's strong performance.

IMSA heads to Canada this weekend for Round 6 of the Michelin Pilot Challenge, with Brazilian driver Kiko Porto (Banco Daycoval / Toyota Gazoo Racing / Team: Rafa Racing) eager to take on the challenging Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Ontario. The team is aiming for a consistent weekend, with its sights firmly set on fighting for the top positions in the GS class.
Driving the Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO for Rafa Racing Team, the Brazilian will once again share driving duties with American teammate Varun Choksey. The pairing arrives encouraged by the experience gained throughout the season and is counting on consistency to put together a competitive race at a circuit renowned for demanding precision, speed, and strategic execution over the two-hour contest. At the previous round at Watkins Glen, Porto faced one of the most challenging weekends of his season. In addition to competing in the Michelin Pilot Challenge, he stepped in to replace Jem Hepworth in both Lamborghini Super Trofeo races after the driver suffered a fracture. The triple-duty schedule demanded exceptional physical fitness, adaptability, and focus, as the Brazilian took part in three major races during the same event—a challenge he embraced with professionalism and determination. Despite the added workload, the weekend produced positive results. In the Lamborghini Super Trofeo, Porto claimed two podium finishes, once again demonstrating his competitiveness and versatility across different racing categories. In the Michelin Pilot Challenge, however, a promising performance was compromised by a punctured tire during the race. Even so, Porto and Choksey fought through adversity to finish 13th in the GS class. This weekend presents a different scenario. With no commitments outside the Michelin Pilot Challenge, Porto can devote his full attention to the championship—an important factor as he pursues his long-awaited first podium finish of the season. "We know we have what it takes to fight at the front, and I believe that podium is long overdue. I really hope it comes this weekend because the entire team has been working incredibly hard, and everyone deserves this result," said Kiko Porto. Canada also holds special memories for the Brazilian. It was at Toronto last year, during his championship-winning VP Racing Challenge campaign, that Porto made his Canadian debut and claimed a memorable victory. The second race of the weekend was canceled due to adverse weather conditions, but his dominant performance was enough to mark one of the defining moments of that successful title-winning season. Now competing in a different championship, featuring endurance-style races with shared driving duties, Porto believes the familiar surroundings of Canadian Tire Motorsport Park could help the team deliver another strong performance and find the ideal setup for the Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO. "This track in Ontario brings back great memories from last year. It wasn't just because of the win—I also took pole position. Of course, that doesn't mean the same thing will happen this time, since we're racing in a different championship under completely different circumstances. But it's always a positive feeling to return to a circuit where you've had success before," the driver said. The sixth round of the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge gets underway on Friday (July 10) with the opening practice session in the morning at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, followed by a second practice in the afternoon. On Saturday (July 11), GS qualifying is scheduled for 9:20 a.m. (Brasília time), while the two-hour race is set to go green at 2:25 p.m. (Brasília time). The race will be streamed live on IMSA's official YouTube channel, giving Brazilian fans the opportunity to follow and cheer on Kiko Porto as he takes on another important challenge in the 2026 season.
