Brazilian driver Kiko Porto (Banco Daycoval / Toyota Gazoo Racing / Team: Rafa Racing), and a member of Rafa Racing, wrapped up another challenging weekend of racing in the United States. At Road America, a circuit located in Elkhart Lake, Porto competed in the seventh round of the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge and the fourth double-header round of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America. Across the two championships, Porto returned to the podium, finishing third in the second Lamborghini race alongside his teammate Tyler Gonzalez. The weekend schedule began on Friday (31), with Kiko taking part in the IMSA free practice session and qualifying. On the same day, the driver was also on track for Lamborghini Super Trofeo qualifying and the first race of the double-header. Gonzalez started the race at the wheel of the Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 and later handed the car over to Kiko. The Brazilian maintained a competitive pace and brought the car home in fourth place. On Saturday (1), Porto returned to the track for the two-hour IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge race, but the result did not match the team's expectations. The race, which was started by Varun, had to be retired on the ninth lap due to mechanical issues, before Kiko even had the opportunity to take over the wheel. Hours later, Kiko had a chance to bounce back in the Lamborghini. This time, he started the race and subsequently handed the car over to Gonzalez. The duo put together a consistent performance to secure third place, putting Rafa Racing back on the podium. The Lamborghini result takes on even greater significance given the team's recent run in the championship. At the previous IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge round, held at Watkins Glen International, Kiko Porto scored a victory and also claimed two podium finishes in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America. At Road America, the Brazilian once again demonstrated his competitiveness in one of the championships, despite the difficult outcome in IMSA. “It was a weekend of highs and lows. In IMSA, we had high expectations for the race, but the mechanical issue took away our chance of fighting for a strong result. In Lamborghini, we were able to bounce back, we had a competitive car, and finishing on the podium shows that we are still on the right path. Now, we need to keep working so we can come back even stronger for the next rounds”, said Kiko Porto. With another podium finish in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America, Porto continues his strong run of results in the series and now turns his attention to the upcoming commitments of the season.
