This weekend, Porto captured his maiden victory in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge, one of the most competitive sports car championships in North America. The result crowned a race defined by strategy, consistency, and determination at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Ontario, Canada. Sharing driving duties with American teammate Varun Choksey, Porto guided the Rafa Racing Team's Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO to victory in the GS class. The achievement marks a significant milestone in the international career of the Recife native, who continues to build an impressive résumé through strong performances and championship-winning campaigns. The victory also rewarded the team's flawless execution of a well-planned race strategy. The road to victory, however, was anything but straightforward. The challenges began in qualifying, where Choksey posted only the 15th-fastest lap. That result placed the No. 12 Toyota on the eighth row of the starting grid, setting the stage for a difficult charge through one of the most competitive GS fields of the season. The comeback began immediately after the green flag, as Choksey delivered an impressive opening stint, carving his way through the field and moving into ninth place within the opening laps. Shortly afterward, after climbing to seventh, the race was neutralized following an incident that brought out a lengthy full-course caution, slowing the field for more than 40 minutes. When the pit window opened, Rafa Racing Team executed a clean fuel stop and driver change while running seventh. Porto rejoined the race in 19th position, setting the stage for the Brazilian to showcase his racecraft, speed, and strategic awareness as he launched an impressive charge back through the field. Displaying outstanding pace and stringing together a series of fast laps, the Pernambuco driver steadily worked his way forward. With 51 minutes remaining, he had already climbed into the top ten. Roughly ten minutes later, Porto took over the race lead and began pulling away from the field, eventually opening a gap of more than 40 seconds over second place. In the closing stages, the team made the decisive strategic call. Holding a comfortable advantage, Porto came to pit lane for a quick splash-and-go—taking on just enough fuel to reach the finish. The stop was executed flawlessly, allowing the Brazilian to rejoin the race still in the lead. With no further cautions before the checkered flag, Porto expertly managed the gap and crossed the finish line nearly ten seconds clear of the runner-up, securing his first IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge victory in the GS class. "At the start of the race, I don't think we expected this, and we certainly weren't in a position to fight for the lead. But once I got out on track with clear air ahead, I was able to settle into a really strong pace. We got the job done despite all the challenges, and I'm extremely happy about that. Porto now heads into the next round of the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge with even greater momentum. The championship resumes on July 30 for Round 7 at the Motul SportsCar Endurance Grand Prix, held at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin.
