Pernambuco driver dominates debut season in the GSX category with six poles in six stages and secures the championship in advance.

Braselton (USA), October 9, 2025 Champion! With pole position and victory in the first race of the IMSA - VP Racing Sportscar Challenge, Brazilian driver Kiko Porto (Toyota Gazoo Racing / Team: Rafa Racing) brilliantly secured the title. The driver from Pernambuco arrived as the leader of the GSX category, with a significant advantage heading into the final stage at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, in Braselton, Georgia. With a 430-point lead over the second place contender, Kiko could finish the first race of the stage in fourth place and still be the champion. However, the Pernambuco driver did even better, showing why he dominated the season from start to finish. After the practice sessions, he clinched pole position in qualifying, his sixth pole in six stages, showcasing his superiority in the category. His impeccable qualifying performance was a hallmark of the Brazilian throughout the season. At the start of the race on Thursday (9) at 2:05 PM (Brasilia time), the Brazilian was cautious, knowing that a lot was at stake. He fell to second place but quickly regained the lead, aboard his Toyota GR Supra number 8 from the Rafa Racing Team. Lap by lap, Kiko Porto extended his lead and was already 7 seconds ahead of the second place when a yellow flag came out, but it was no problem for the Pernambuco driver, who upon the restart opened a new advantage and crossed the finish line first to claim the title of the VP Racing Sportscar Challenge in his debut year in the category. "In our last qualifying session, pole. Six qualifying sessions, six pole positions, a performance that exceeded our expectations. We faced challenges in the second free practice session, with a car that wasn't ideal, especially in search of front grip. We made significant adjustments to the car. It worked! Absolute leader of the championship, and with a fourth place in the race, I was already champion, but it got even better. It feels great to celebrate this achievement with another victory. Thank God, we crowned a year of hard work," declared Kiko Porto. In this debut season at the VP Racing Sportscar Challenge, there were 11 races held, and Kiko Porto achieved all 6 possible pole positions, along with 8 victories and two second places. The numbers confirm the absolute dominance of the Brazilian in the GSX category. This Friday (10), we will have the second 45-minute race, the last of the 2025 season, starting at 9:30 AM Brasilia time. Even with the title secured, the Pernambuco driver aims to finish the championship with yet another victory. The official IMSA channel on YouTube will broadcast this conclusion of the VP Racing Sportscar Challenge, perhaps allowing Kiko Porto's fans to celebrate the title with another victory from the Brazilian driver.
