The Pernambuco native is seeking to make his official "debut" in the 2026 season in the GS category, after setbacks in Daytona.

After 53 days of waiting, the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge arrives this week at the Sebring International Raceway in Florida for the second stage of the year. The Pernambuco driver Kiko Porto (Banco Daycoval / Toyota Gazoo Racing / Team: Rafa Racing), one of the most promising names in Brazilian motorsport on the international scene, will finally have the opportunity to race in the competition and seek his first points in the championship.

The postponed debut of Porto in the season took place during the opening race, held in January at the Daytona track. On that occasion, the Brazilian and his team showed potential by securing a start in the second row of the GS category. The performance in practice also made it clear that the 2025 IMSA VP Racing champion arrived with full energy to defend his team in the new category. However, fate had a setback in store for the duo from Rafa Racing. Porto shares the wheel of the number 12 Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO with Varun Choksey. The American took the start in Daytona. During the first half of the four-hour race and had made a pit stop when, amid a yellow flag, he ended up colliding with another car from the TCR category. The incident forced the duo to retire prematurely, preventing Kiko Porto from having the chance to hit the track. "Our team had enough time to analyze what happened in Daytona and is now completely focused on this race in Sebring," says Kiko Porto. This week, Porto will finally make his official debut in the Michelin Pilot Challenge. The expectations are high for both the driver and Brazilian motorsport fans who closely follow his career in the international scene. The opportunity to compete in Sebring, one of the most challenging and traditional circuits on the American calendar, represents a special chapter for the Pernambuco native. "We have a good car and the team worked hard to get everything ready for this stage. I hope we can have a good race," he emphasized. The schedule for the second stage of the Michelin Pilot Challenge in Sebring includes two free practice sessions for Kiko and Varun. The first one is this Wednesday (18), while the second is scheduled for Thursday (19), which is also the day for the qualifying, set for 3:30 PM*. The start of the second stage is scheduled for this Friday (20), at 3 PM*, lasting two hours, with the drivers switching control of the car in the pits about 1 hour after the start. Motorsport fans will have the chance to follow the excitement of the race live. The official IMSA channel on YouTube will broadcast the race, allowing Brazilian fans to cheer for Kiko Porto.
