Brazilian driver Kiko Porto (Banco Daycoval / Toyota Gazoo Racing / Rafa Racing Team) experienced one of the busiest and most demanding weekends of his international racing career. Called up at the last minute to compete in Round 3 of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America, the Recife native had to split his focus between two major championships at Watkins Glen International. Despite the challenge, he demonstrated impressive speed and competitiveness, turning an unexpected opportunity into outstanding results.

Brazilian driver takes on a demanding race weekend, earning two podium finishes in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo and showcasing strong recovery pace in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge.

In addition to competing in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America, Porto was already scheduled to contest Round 5 of the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge, facing an intense schedule on track throughout the weekend. Displaying remarkable versatility and physical endurance, he adapted to different race cars, strategies, and race formats, once again proving his ability to perform at a high level whenever new challenges arise. For the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America, Porto was called in to replace Jem Hepworth, who was forced to miss the event after suffering a fracture. Racing in the Pro class for Rafa Racing Team, Kiko teamed up with American driver Tyler Gonzalez in the No. 2 Lamborghini. Gonzalez qualified sixth for Friday's race (June 26), while Porto secured an impressive second-place starting position for Saturday's race (June 27), confirming the strong pace he had shown from his very first laps behind the wheel. In Friday's race, the chemistry between the two drivers translated into an excellent result. Porto and Gonzalez crossed the finish line in third place, earning the Brazilian another podium finish in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America. The result carried special meaning for the Pernambuco native, who returned to the podium at Watkins Glen, the same circuit where he also finished third two years ago. "Thank God we were able to make up for everything on track. Another podium. I also finished third here two years ago, so I'm really happy to be back on the podium," Porto said after Friday's race. On Saturday (June 27), Porto shifted his focus to Round 5 of the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge. Racing for Rafa Racing Team, he shares the No. 12 Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO with American teammate Varun Choksey. Starting ninth on the grid, Choksey enjoyed a solid opening stint. After dropping to 13th early on, he fought back to eighth before a left-rear tire failure forced the team into an unscheduled pit stop, completely disrupting their race strategy. Porto took over driving duties with approximately 50 minutes remaining, rejoining the race in 23rd position. Despite the setback, he launched an impressive charge through the field, making several decisive overtakes while maintaining a strong pace to ultimately finish 13th. With the race featuring very few full-course cautions, the recovery highlighted Porto's determination and racecraft under difficult circumstances. "Our strategy was working well until we had a tire come apart. We had to pit much earlier than planned, before the minimum 40-minute driver-change window. We refueled the car, but we lost a lap. I got in with about 50 minutes to go, and we managed to climb from 23rd to 13th. It was a good recovery, but after a tire failure in a race with almost no yellow flags, that was the best we could do," he explained. Later that day, Porto returned to the track for Race 2 of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America. Starting from the front row in second place, he maintained a consistent pace throughout his stint. The race was heavily interrupted by multiple caution periods and a red flag following a major accident. Despite the chaotic circumstances, the Brazilian remained among the front-runners until the mandatory driver change, when Gonzalez took over the No. 2 Lamborghini and drove the team to a second-place finish. The race ultimately concluded under caution. "Another podium—second place this time—and I'm really happy. It was a crazy race. I started and stayed in second for the first couple of laps, then there was a huge crash that completely destroyed one of the cars. We were under a red flag for about 20 minutes. Once the race resumed, we came in for the driver change, and shortly after that there was another long caution period. I think we only had about six laps of green-flag racing in total. Another podium, and I'm extremely pleased," Porto celebrated after securing his second podium finish of the weekend at Watkins Glen. Porto now turns his attention to the next round of the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge, scheduled for July 10–12 at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Ontario, Canada. He heads into the event with renewed confidence after a weekend defined by resilience, competitiveness, and outstanding performances.
